Apparently, ’tis the season for aggression-fueled car-themed slots. After last week’s launch of Push Gaming’s post-apocalyptic thriller, Mad Cars, now, gambling software provider Nolimit City has released Road Rage, its spirited interpretation of what happens when driver’s tempers get the better of them on their way to a max win of 36,000 times the bet.
The studio has chosen to go with comic book styling in this highly volatile video slot that has a triple RTP setup, including 92.17 percent and 94.16 percent, increasing to 96.03 percent when one of the four bonus options is purchased. It is available for desktop and mobile action and players can bet from 20 p/c to £/€100 per spin. The game’s 5-reel, 3-row default grid can expand to 5×5 in bonus modes, which means it offers from 99 to 259 ways to win.
Symbols & Paytable:
Winning combinations of 3-5 matching symbols that land on adjacent reels from the leftmost side must be touching either horizontally or diagonally. And on the paytable, we have five low value symbols, including a rear view mirror, a charging mobile phone, an evergreen scented hanging air freshner, a flat tire and a steaming hot cup of java, each of which pays 0.5 to 1.5x the bet for five-of-a-kind. Worth more are the five angry driver characters, which come complete with personalized license plates UK 4RT3M, K4R3N 69, 420 GR4N, 4RISTOC4T and the most valuable, SPILL3D JOE, which is worth 5x the bet for hitting five-of-a-kind.
Meanwhile, all of the cars are Wilds and each of them has a unique function depending on the color:
Yellow Cars/Engine Breakdown: increases the size of all other symbols on the same reel by +1. Red Cars/Drive-By: drives from right to left, increasing the symbol multiplier by +1 for all symbols it passes over and turns into a wild where it stops. Green Cars/Drive-By: drives from left to right, increasing the symbol multiplier by +1 for all symbols it passes over and turns into a wild where it stops. If Red and Green Cars collide, the multipliers on the corresponding cars are added and the total is displayed on a Colliding Wild. That Colliding Wild stays sticky if either the Green or Red Car is sticky in one of the bonus modes.
Scatters & Mystery Symbols:
During the main game, traffic light Scatters can appear on any reel, and landing two of them will trigger a respin with a guaranteed Wild Car on each reel with a scatter. Landing at least 3 scatters activates the Morning Rush bonus mode, while 4, or 5 awards the H1ghway Jam or the City Mayh3m bonus modes, respectively.
Mystery symbols only appear in a bonus more, and only 1 can land per reel. These symbols reveal either green, red, or yellow and if the color happens to match either a Wild Car or a sticky Wild Car, that particular Car’s multiplier is increased. If, however, the Mystery symbol reveals a color of a Wild Car not present in the bonus mode, +1 spin is awarded.
Other Features:
Prior to the start of a bonus round, the Rage Buff is activated, which sees Wild Cars move across the reels and assume the effect of whichever road symbol it passes. The signs are Stop, Turn, Freespin, Car, Speed Bump and Dice, with the latter four possibly awarding extra free spins, sticky multiplier increments, or Drive-By multiplier increments.
Regarding Bonus Modes, landing 3 scatters awards Morning Rush with 3 rows; H1ghway Jam with 4 rows is triggered by 4 scatters; and landing 5 scatter activates City Mayh3m with 5 rows.
If a player lands 1 0r 2 scatter while in Morning Rush, they are upgraded to the corresponding higher bonus mode. Landing 1 scatter in H1ghway Jam gets a bump up to City Mayh3m. Meanwhile, in each of the bonus modes, either 1, 2, or 3 Wild Cars are chosen and transform into sticky wilds in their stop positions.
Nolimit Bonus:
Located to the left of the game grid is a star icon which open the Nolimit Bonus menu. The various tickets for purchase there include the Morning Rush, which awards 6 spins and costs 66x the bet; the H1ghway Jam awards 8 spins and costs 270x the bet; and City Mayh3m with 10 spins and a 666x the bet cost. The fourth and final option can be had for 334x the bet and gives you a 33 percent chance winning for each of the 3 individual bonus modes.
Comical Approach:
Sharing his thoughts on the new release, Sebastian Hovenberg, Product Owner at Nolimit City, said…
“We’ve all been there; struggling, gnawing, and swearing in one way or another – Making enemies with your fellow drivers and asking yourself how they’re still alive… Relive these moments in our comical approach as a slot, in Road Rage! The characters are angry, drive recklessly and nothing’s going their way. Buckle up!”
Known for its immersive games such as The Rave, Folsom Prison, Tombstone R.I.P, Mental, San Quentin xWays and many others, Nolimiy City is expected to drop its next equally-twisted Kenneth Must Die slot before the end of the month. We can’t wait!
Evolution Takeover:
The talented slot developer was recently acquired by live casino operator, Evolution Gaming Limited, in a deal worth $357 million.
